3) What are your goals in the future in regards to photography?

I really hope to pursue a little bit of a career in photography. In college i'm hoping to make some money by taking people's headshots. People will pay good money to have a nice headshot for auditions and it will give me a way to use my photography skills (however minute they may be) and still stay involved in the theater world.

CD Cover/Photoshop Tutorial: My Version

I used the "Fantasy Art" Tutorial and used a picture i found from a stock photo of a man meditating. I also used a picture of water in the background, the rest was all simple effects in photoshop!

Kindred Spirit, Vanity, Passion

Kindred Spirit: I didn't focus on just one color here, in fact it was a pallete of many, that's the point. I saw this lighthearted, fun, childlike composition and immediately thought of splatter painting in kindergarden. The succer does it justice as well. The various colors give a feeling of fun and random blissfullness that i appreciate in this photo. My favorite part of this is that it is a very different photo, it's not trite or cliche like my other two, no one else has a succer in paint! ha!

Vanity: Purple has always been the color of royalty and high society. This picture of a young woman putting on purple makeup made me think of this 'royalty' moving into the media of today. You have to wear makeup, you have to be pretty, you have to look the best and be the best. (not saying that my model is in vain...) I enhanced the color to make it look vivid and pompous so it would fit in with my 'vision'. And here it is...'Vanity'.

Passion: Although it is constantly overdone, i feel as if this picture evokes a sort of passion. Red is a symbol of temptation, blood, hate, sin, lust, etc. And i think this picture actually evokes all of them. The apple reminds me of a modern day Eve, or maybe a Lillith. Then there's the whole Snow White complex...but modernized. There's a false sense of innocence with her cute little red umbrella but then there's this evil sort of passion in her face. I like this picture, as overdone as it may seem. But viola! Here is Passion.

Goldsworthy: My Version

I had great difficulty with these pictures...The main reason being Goldsworthy is NOT a photographer. He is a sculptor. He sculpts things and then takes pictures of his sculpture. They're beautiful compositions but that's just it. I don't have the time nor the ability to create an ice sculpture that winds itself around a tree. ANOTHER reason why this assignment was difficult is because it is, at present winter. In winter there is constant SNOW. Therefore all of his beautiful sand pictures, and flower petal, and leave pictures are physically impossible to create. I tried to blend the use of nature and man made creativity in the bottom two, and on the top one i found a photo he took where he painted a tree red....so there we have it. To be frank i thought this assignment was rather silly for digital photography students because were are photographers...not sculptors.

Andy Goldsworthy

Andy Goldsworthy has a way of combining man with nature. He uses his skills to twist and turn different aspects or pieces of nature into a sculpture then takes a picture of it. His pieces usually have good visual movement, and he hardly ever utilizes the rule of thirds. Another interesting concept is that everything that he creates can be naturally and probably will be dismantled and destroyed. It is only temporary.
